Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin is slamming the federal budget bill as Congress continues to inch it toward passage.
Speaking before debate began on amendments on Monday in Washington, Slotkin said this bill will hurt most citizens, raising costs for everyone.
“This bill does nothing but make middle class people pay more in their lives,” Slotkin said. “17 million people ready to lose their healthcare because of this bill. That means everyone else on private insurance is gonna be paying more.”
Slotkin questioned Republican rhetoric about reducing the national debt.
“For all their talk of cutting the deficit and not liking debt, national debt, this bill raises the national debt, which really means the mortgage rates in this country are not going to go down.”
Slotkin says the Big Beautiful Bill will also devastate solar and wind energy, raising electric bills.
Senators held a “vote a rama” Monday as they considered dozens of amendments to the House plan.
