Congressman Tim Walberg is welcoming a Supreme Court decision on Friday that limits the power of district judges to place national injunctions on policies of the Trump administration.
Walberg tells us this ruling will enable the president to advance his agenda with fewer obstacles.
“That is huge because we have never seen anything like that with any other president,” Walberg said. “This has just been a full blown effort to hold back the agenda of this president who was elected by 77 million people to do the job he said he would do. And he’s not doing anything that he didn’t say he would do.”
Walberg says it’s absurd for district judges to issue rulings that affect policy nationwide. He also calls it an abuse of power that ignores the separation of powers.
Walberg added the ruling does not give the president “carte blanche” to do whatever he wants because Congress still has some authority.
The Supreme Court issued several rulings Friday as it closed out its session, and Walberg says “there were some good ones” among them.
