Michigan rocker and celebrity outdoorsman Ted Nugent spoke out during a Michigan House Committee hearing on alleged Michigan Department of Natural Resources abuses this week.
One of the issues at the top of Nugent’s mind was “lawfare against people,” as he called it, where he argued the DNR could go after people, no matter what the science says.
“An 18-year-old boy who got into bowhunting because of my TV show got a ticket because his bow case wasn’t zipped up,” Nugent said. “There’s a law in Michigan that wildlife policy has to be based on science. What’s the science of a bow case?”
Nugent, who owns a ranch in Jackson County, engaged in previous legal battles with the DNR, most recently counter-suing them to remove the Russian boar from the Michigan Prohibited Species list.
The DNR has not responded to Nugent’s allegations.
