The South Haven Police Department has identified a woman found floating in Lake Michigan near 20th Avenue in South Haven Township this week.

Police say the woman was a 67-year-old New Mexico resident whose family owns property along the lakeshore.

The woman was found floating in the lake by a boater about five miles south of the lighthouse around 6 p.m. Monday. South Haven Area Emergency Services was able to pull her out of the lake and conduct CPR, but the woman was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The South Haven Police Department says it appears the woman had gone out for a swim alone and never left the water.

There are no indications of foul play.

Police are still awaiting autopsy results and say the woman’s name will not be released.
