Five arrested after high speed chase in Cass County

A multi-agency police pursuit of a stolen motor vehicle concluded early this morning with the successful apprehension of five suspects and the recovery of stolen property in Howard Township, Cass County. The chase, which originated in Niles, led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit before ending with the deployment of stop sticks.

According to Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach, deputies responded at approximately 1:46 AM Thursday after officers from the Niles Police Department initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that crossed into Cass County. The fleeing vehicle was ultimately stopped in the 58000 block of Dailey Road when it ran over deployed stop sticks, disabling it.

Officers say the car’s occupants attempted to flee on foot. However, deputies quickly found and apprehended all five suspects. At the scene, investigators confirmed the vehicle was indeed stolen and recovered additional stolen property.

Due to the involvement of several juvenile suspects, their names have not been released by authorities.
