St. Joseph Public Schools Superintendent Kristen Bawks will soon mark one year on the job, and she says it’s been it’s been an eventful one.
Bawks has been with the district for 21 years, most recently serving as principal at Brown Elementary School when the board of education selected her as the new superintendent. She started in that role in August.
Bawks tells us they’ve seen a lot of new people come to St. Joseph Public Schools in the last 12 months. And that’s not all that’s happened.
“Two new principals at our five buildings, a new Maize and Blue Fund, which was something we celebrated,” Bawks said. “We celebrated the opening of our ball fields, which has been an ongoing project. Our executive director of our St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation is one of our retirees this year and we welcomed a new executive director just recently. So all of those things are really exciting for the future and we’re really looking forward to already next school year and doing all of our planning for that.”
Bawks says the board of education this month celebrated its latest retirees, and it was a pleasure to honor so many people who have been her colleagues for the past 21 years. She also notes the district’s website has information available on job openings at St. Joseph Public Schools.
