Lorraine Anne McCllen-Cronin, best known as Aunt Raine to all that knew her. Passed away on June 17, 2025, at her home in Buchanan, Ml., with her loving family by her side. Born on September 24, 1944, in Niles, Ml., to the late Arol Lyle McCllen and Velma May (Jones) McCllen.
Lorraine graduated from Buchanan High School in 1963 and developed a career as an accountant. She was the owner and operator of Accounting Services working in both the Niles and Buchanan area. Her professional dedication was matched only by her commitment to her faith as a devoted member of Faith Global Methodist Church was her devotion to her family. Lorraine’s involvement in her church was not merely a pastime but a cornerstone of her life, where she found both solace and joy.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Larry Dean Cronin Sr., on June 24, 1995, in Buchanan where she took on their blended family with mutual love, respect and affection. Their marriage continued until Larry passed away on January 26, 2022. She was also preceded in death by her dear brother, James Lyle McCllen Sr.
Lorraine is survived by her cherished niece and nephew, Jennifer and Bill Parsons who were by her side throughout her life, along with her nephew, Jim (Roberta) McCllen Jr. She had a special bond with them, deeply impacting their lives with her love and wisdom. She helped to raise them after the passing of her brother, James. Additionally, she leaves behind Larry’s three children, and many grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory her great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews that she loved as her very own grandchildren.
An avid collector, Lorraine found joy in the simple pleasure of garage sales, where she would search for treasures to add to her collection. She would spend hours to find the perfect gift for those she loved. Her interests were as varied as her collection, ranging from her love of gardening and planting flowers to her passion for baking. Known for her delicious cookies, Lorraine delighted in teaching the next generation the art of baking, ensuring that her recipes and love for the craft would be passed down through the years. More importantly, making sure she passed down the love and values she herself instilled in. Spreading love and kindness to everyone and everywhere.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill Parsons for the love and care he gave Aunt Raine over the last few years.
Funeral services for Lorraine will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27 at Palmer Funeral Home – Hoven Chapel, 414 E. Front St. Buchanan, Ml. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 26 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday, one hour prior to the service. Graveside service and burial will follow at Portage Prairie Cemetery in Niles.
