Berrien County’s seven senior centers now have their funding for the year approved.

The Berrien County Board of Commissioners on Thursday signed off on the terms of appropriation for the centers for 2025.

Under the county’s formula, each of the seven centers will receive the same amount of funding, all raised with the county’s senior centers millage. For 2025, each center will receive just under $434,000.

Commissioners also approved a new amendment to the senior center terms stating that while a given center may charge visitors for specific special programs or activities, none of them may charge membership fees.

The appropriations approved this week come one week after the county’s senior centers received positive audit results.

Berrien County offers senior centers in Benton Harbor, Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Niles, Coloma, Harbert, and St. Joseph.
