The 63rd annual Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff is just about 20 days away, and as preparations kick into high geal, organizers have announced the return of a popular service that used to be offered during the event.
Krasl spokesperson Jamie Balkin tells us the festival is bringing back the shuttle to take attendees from the St. Joseph High School parking lot to Lake Bluff Park. She says it’s been on hiatus for eight years.
“We’ve always wanted to bring the shuttle back, and that’s the biggest question I’ve always gotten is, when is the shuttle going to be back? Well, thanks to support from Southwest Michigan Tourist Council, St. Joseph High School, and a volunteer to kind of lead it, we are bringing the shuttle back this year,” Balkin said.
The shuttle will be free and run on a loop both Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. It will only take a half hour break at 12:30 each day. Balkin says the logistics and cost of running the shuttle were too much to manage for some years there, but thanks to the new support, the service is back.
As for the art fair, it will feature 172 artists from all over the country selling their work. Balkin says it’s a real process to select them.
“What people don’t realize is that the Krasl Art Fair is a juried art fair, so we had over 470 applications to get to that 172 artists.”
The Art Fair weekend will kick off the evening of Friday, July 11 with the annual Block Party featuring food, drinks, and live music. Tickets are available now.
Balkin says attendance at the fair on Saturday and Sunday will be free, although they ask for a donation. The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff is expected to attract around 22,000 visitors.
