Solomon Collins, 79, passed away on May 6, 2025. His beloved wife, Dr. Sherry Collins, 79, passed away 16 days later on May 22, 2025. Solomon and Sherry were long time educators in the Benton Harbor Area School District. He was the former special education director, and she was the founder and principal of the Gifted and Talented Academy. After they retired from the school system, they taught graduate students at Western Michigan University and Grand Valley State University how to become effective K-12 teachers.
Solomon and Sherry were funeralized in Jackson, MS, during the month of May; however, a celebration of life memorial service will be conducted for them on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. This memorial service will be held at the Highland Avenue SDA Church, 2075 Highland Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
