The city of South Haven says most of the electric customers who lost service in a large outage on Thursday now have it back.

The city says the problem started when a large transmission line feeding the community was damaged by a tree. Local crews worked with American Electric Power to identify the problem and customers got back online around 4 p.m.

Anyone still experiencing an issue is advised to check their breakers, and if that doesn’t work, to contact the city call center at 269-637-5151.

The city thanks everyone for their understanding.
