A student from Buchanan has been named the winner of Congressman Tim Walberg’s 2025 Congressional Art Competition.

Walberg asked students from across the Fifth District to submit art to be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol Building back in March. With all entries in, Hailey Robbins of Buchanan is first place with her entry, Northern Lights over Michigan. The medium is acrylic paint on canvas, featuring her interpretation of the Northern Lights that she saw over a farm in Michigan.

Second place was awarded to Ava Kramer from Jonesville High School, which is in Hillsdale County.

Walberg says each year, he’s amazed by the artistic abilities of students across Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District, and he thanked all the students who submitted entries to the contest.
