Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education President Dashuna Robinson says the search for a new district superintendent has been going “amazingly smooth” so far. The board on Saturday voted to invite six candidates to interview for the job later this month.

The district says the six candidates are:

Mr. Jeff Dase
Deputy Superintendent, Rock Island-Milan School District (IL)

Dr. Simone Griffin
Regional Director, Learnwell Educational Services (IL)

Dr. Stephanie Jones
Director of Special Education, CCSD 168 (IL)

Dr. Dallas Lee
Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and Opportunities, Elementary School District 159 (IL)

Mr. Donald Pearson
Former Superintendent, River of Life Christian School;
Former Principal, Benton Harbor High School (MI)

Dr. Rena Whitten
Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Equity, Thornton Fractional High School District 215 (IL)

Robinson said at Saturday’s board meeting she looks forward to hearing from all of the candidates.

Congratulations to the top six candidates,” Robinson said. “We want to give our thanks to all candidates who applied and considered Benton Harbor Area Schools and were willing to step up to the challenge in leading our district.”

The board will interview the candidates starting the morning of June 14, and there will be follow up interviews on the 24th.

The goal is to have a new superintendent selected in July.
