Law enforcement in Oakland County say one suspect is in custody, and they’re looking for another, after a plot to stage a mass shooting at a Pontiac high school graduation ceremony was uncovered. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard says deputies received a tip about a threat against the event on social media, and recovered loaded firearms at the scene.

Just those two weapons without changing magazines had 80 rounds of potential firepower,” Bouchard said. “Shooting into a graduation, you can only imagine the outcome of that.”

Bouchard said it appears the suspects were serious.

When you consider the weapons that were there, the individuals that were involved who have a history of being involved with weapons and violence. One is on probation for a weapons offense.”

The plot was first reported via Snapchat. A 19-year-old has been arrested, while police are looking for a 20-year-old. Bouchard didn’t say what the motive of the planned attack was, but said people “are quick to violence these days.”
