International students studying at Michigan State University are being advised not to leave the country as the Trump administration works to revoke the visas of some international students.

A communication came via email from Michigan State’s Office of International Students and Scholars this week strongly advising “international students not to leave the country at this time.” The thought being their ability to return could be impacted after word that the State Department has temporarily paused interviews with students living abroad who are seeking exchange visas.

The notice also comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced plans to more aggressively revoke the visas of Chinese international students already studying in the U.S.

Although declining a request for an interview, MSU officials released a statement saying, “The university is closely monitoring recent federal policy changes and will continue to advocate for policies that enable us to welcome international students and scholars from around the world.”
