The Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Luncheon on June 5, and there will be a special guest in attendance.

Niles Chamber Director Ryan Boeskool tells us Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be the keynote speaker. He says the chamber has a lot of connections throughout the state, and they came through on this request.

“We reached out to several of our key partners, and said, ‘Hey do you think the governor would be interested in coming to speak to our humble gathering of business leaders down here in Niles,’ and they said, ‘We’ll absolutely make a request,’ and lo and behold, she said yes,” Boeskool ssaid. “We’re really excited to have her.”

Boeskool says this has been a big year for the Greater Niles Chamber as the community received a lot of state support for projects, and attractions like the Chapin Mansion and Fort St. Joseph were given state Historic Preservation Awards.

“There but a lot of projects. We just went through a massive road repair project. There’s just a lot of things happening in Niles, a lot of resources coming from the state of Michigan, but i think we’ve been on their radars.”

Big things happening in Niles lately have included the Outdoor Entertainment District, which Boeskool says has been transformative.

Whitmer’s keynote at the luncheon will focus on fostering economic growth across Michigan, with a spotlight on initiatives impacting the greater Niles region.

The event, to be held at Morris Estate in Niles, is all sold out.
