The White House is looking to issue a pardon to two of the men convicted of plotting to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer during the COVID pandemic.

Last week, the U.S. Justice Department’s new pardon attorney said he is going to take a “hard look” at the case, and this week, President Trump said the trial “looked to me like somewhat of a railroad job.”

MNN legal analyst Charlie Langton told us more.

This was the second trial for these two that were convicted,” Langton said. “The first trial did end up in a hung jury for these two and an acquittal for two other people. So, arguably, there was some sketchy evidence. Now again, you know, the jury heard the case and convicted and the judge sentenced accordingly.”

Barry Croft Jr. and Adam Fox were portrayed as leaders of the scheme. They were convicted in 2022 of planning to grab Whitmer at her vacation home and start a civil war.
