UPDATE:
The Cassopolis Police Department says it was able to recover its stolen squad car and the guns inside of it. The suspect was located a short time later, on Wednesday.
Police are looking for a suspect who they say stole a Cassopolis Police Department squad car in Wednesday.
The Cassopolis Police Department says officers were arresting the suspect around 1 p.m. when he managed to flee the scene in the marked vehicle. It’s a 2020 Ford Explorer with official Village of Cassopolis Police markings.
The suspect, who police say should be considered armed and dangerous, is described as a white male, approximately 43 years old, 5’4″, 200 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Police across the region have been notified of the situation and are assisting Cassopolis police.
Residents are asked to remain alert, report any suspicious activity, and allow enforcement to handle the situation with caution and care.
