Lawmakers frustrated with problems in government transparency system

There was a testy hearing in Lansing Tuesday regarding complications with the new Michigan Transparency Network.

State lawmakers are demanding answers about the issues plaguing Michigan’s new financial disclosure website for legislators and lobbyists. Representative Lori Pohutsky told officials from Tyler Technologies, the company behind Mitten, that the inability to find basic info in the system is still an issue.

You were not able to search for lawmakers for filings,” Pohutsky said. “So how is that not a problem?”

Some on the committee asked about a refund for the $9 million system, something Tyler Technologies said they wouldn’t do. However, they offered to fix the issues free of charge. That’s expected to be done in late June.
