Chikaming Township has been awarded an $18,000 donation to help improve safety on the Red Arrow Linear Trail.

The township’s parks department announced on social media this week it’s received the support from the 2025 DALMAC Fund, which seeks to promote the use of bicycles in Michigan. The funds will be used to expand bicycling safety and awareness along the trail.

The Red Arrow Highway Linear Trail has been slowly growing, year by year. The goal is to eventually have a trail along the side of the road from New Buffalo to Bridgman. Much of the completed trail so far is in Chikaming Township.

The township says it thanks the DALMAC Fund for “investing in our mission and helping make Chikaming Township more bike friendly and accessible.”
