
Sammy D. G. Teeter, 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Niles, Michigan.
Sam was born on December 25, 1941, in Niles, Michigan to the late Glenn Raymond Teeter and Hazel Lora (Gould) Teeter.
Along with his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his siblings, Rosalie M. Upson and Robert L. Teeter.
Left to cherish the memory of Sam is his loving wife of 59 years, Janette M. (Keach) Teeter and siblings, Jack G. Teeter and Lora A. Estel.
Sam proudly served as a deputy sheriff with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit and past President of the Sheriff’s Auxiliary, demonstrating an abiding passion for maintaining safety and justice.
His fervent involvement with the St. Joe Valley Masonic Lodge was marked by distinction: he led as Past Master for four terms, earning the esteem of his brethren and the title of Mason of the Year not once, but twice. His dedication to the Masonic principles of brotherhood, truth, and relief were evident in all his actions.
Sam’s dedication to the masonic organizations was unparalleled, and his legacy will endure through the numerous positions he honorably held. As a life member of St. Joseph Valley #4, his contributions were deeply valued.
Sam served with distinction as Past Commander of Niles Commandery #12 and as Past Thrice Illustrious Master of the Niles Council #19. His wisdom and guidance as Past High Priest of St. Joseph Valley Chapter #2 were instrumental in upholding the chapter’s traditions.
Sam served as a proud member of the Saladin Shrine of Michigan, South Bend Scottish Rite, and Michigan York Rite College, and a life member of the Niles Order of the Eastern Star #332, his fraternal bonds and service were widely acknowledged.
Furthermore, Sam’s charitable spirit shone brightly through his work as a Shriner, where he was past president of Niles Shrine Club, and honored as Shriner of the Year twice. His tireless efforts bettered the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the community that will resonate for years to come. Sam’s memory will be cherished and his contributions celebrated by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions in honor of Sam may be made out to Shriners Hospital.
Visitation for Sam will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 7:00pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, MI 49120. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10:00am at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
