Tourism is big business in Michigan. In fact, it’s the second biggest industry in the state.

Pure Michigan’s Kelly Wolgamott says tourism generates $53.2 billion in total economic impact. Even with President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Wolgamott doesn’t seem concerned about a possible drop-off in international visitors.

Bookings are still looking great for Michigan and the repeat traveler from international are still very much interested in coming to the U.S. this year,” Wolgamott said. “That’s where Michigan comes in because we get those repeat visitors to the U.S.”

This is National Travel and Tourism Week.

Wolgamott says the Pure Michigan campaign inspired 789,000 leisure trips to Michigan last year.
