Lon Michael Frucci, fondly known as Mike, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 in his home in Niles, Michigan. Born on June 1, 1948, in Buchanan, Michigan, he was the much loved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend who left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Mike was the beloved son of the late John and Virginia (Heiermann) Frucci. He grew up surrounded by the love of his siblings: Tink (Joanie) Frucci, Gina Frucci, Tina (Larry) Moore, and was predeceased by his brother Ervin Frucci. Mike’s life was further enriched by his marriage of over 55 years to Jayme (Thompson) Frucci, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Amy (Nick) Fava and Aaron (Chantal) Frucci, who in turn blessed them with four adored grandchildren: Vincent Frucci, Gabriella Fava, Margaret Fava and Luciano Fava.

A proud graduate of Niles High School in 1966, Mike went on to serve his country with distinction during the Vietnam War as one of the highly skilled Navy Seabees. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign medal, National Defense Service medal, The Vietnam Service medal and ribbon and two Bronze Stars. His dedication and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his character, both in his military service and in his personal life.

Mike’s work ethic and versatile skills were evident in his passion for golf. In retirement, he found joy in working at Plym Park golf course, where he would eagerly complete his tasks so that he could indulge in his love for the game. His interest in sports was not limited to golf; he was an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan State, demonstrating his team spirit at every opportunity.

Beyond his love for sports, Mike was a man of many talents and hobbies. He took great pleasure in making his own wine, a craft he approached with the same meticulous care that he applied to all his endeavors. His interest in classic cars and trucks were something he enjoyed throughout his life.

For over three decades, Mike, Jayme, and their close friends created cherished memories vacationing at Gem Beach in Ohio. These getaways were not just trips but a testament to the deep bonds and enduring friendships that Mike cultivated throughout his life.

Mike’s skill as a jack of all trades was only matched by his sense of humor. He had a unique ability to find humor in the everyday, often laughing heartily at his own jokes. His laughter was contagious, and his presence brought light and levity to any gathering.

Above all, Mike’s role as a Papa was one he held dear. His love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he took immense joy in their accomplishments and milestones. His loving nature extended to all aspects of his life, making him a treasured companion, confidant, and role model.
