In collaboration with Data Guardian, Honor Credit Union in South Haven is hosting a free community shred event.
Community Relations Manager at Honor Credit Union, Jen Wagner, tells us that this is one of ten shred days running from April to September, aimed at helping people protect themselves against identity theft.
“By taking advantage of this, you can safely declutter all of your personal documents, protect your information, and it reduces waste in local landfills,” Wagner says. “Our partner, Data Guardian, actually, you know, safely and securely destroys these documents and recycles them. So, you’re also doing something good for the environment.”
On May 10, residents can bring their unwanted documents and trash for shredding between 9 and 11 a.m. at the South Haven Honor Credit Union location. While shredding won’t occur on-site, all materials will be securely transported for destruction.
Each household is allowed to shred up to 10 boxes or bags. Additional community shred events will be held throughout the spring and summer, including another session on May 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Operations Center in Berrien Springs, and also on June 7 in Coldwater from 9 to 11 a.m.
We have the complete schedule of shred dates here.
