With the federal government threatening to cut billions of dollars in Medicaid funding, advocates gathered in Lansing Tuesday to fight for that money.

Arc-Michigan Director Sherri Boyd says the looming cuts will only hurt real people.

I think it’s really important to point out that Medicaid’s a really popular program and over 70% of Michigan voters oppose cuts of Medicaid funding,” Boyd said.

Boyd says any cuts to Medicaid will result in cuts to everyone.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says in Michigan, 750,000 people could lose access to healthcare if there are cuts.
