Archie Dennis Davies, 82, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday April 26, 2025, at his home in Paw Paw. He was born November 1, 1942, in Warren, Michigan, the son of Archibald Davies and Emma Caroline (Werth) Davies. He was the youngest of seven children.

He graduated from Warren South High School and attended Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School and University of Michigan. Dennis enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on June 26, 1960, and worked his way up to Master Chief. He was the first Yeoman Chief to ever hold the title of Officer in Charge of a Lifeboat Search and Rescue Station in the Coast Guard. He was still active in the USCG reserves for many years after his discharge.

Dennis worked for many years as a Michigan State Trooper and was an active member in the State Police Association and MSP Troopers Association. Archie’s faith was very important to him, and he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Lawrence United Methodist Church. Dennis was a member of the Paw Paw Lions Club, American Legion, FOP Lodge and MSSFA.

Dennis was beloved by all who knew him. He was known for his sense of humor and the tall tales he would spin. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, traveling, and helping people in need. He was generous, loving and will be missed greatly by everyone who had the honor of having him in their life. He cherished his family, his pets, and his many good friends.

Dennis leaves behind his wife, Linda, to whom he was married for 23 years, his daughter Sherry (late son in law Mitch) Patten, son Mike (Dawn) Davies, daughter, Laura (Don) Angell, stepdaughters, Lori Merchant, Dana (late son in law Tim) Ramsey, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Though Dennis will be missed every day, those whose lives he touched will carry his memory in their heart forever and know that Dennis is now doing what he loved the most, fishing on a still morning lake with his beloved dog Katie, watching the sun rise.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services for Dennis will take place Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery in Richland.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
