Rodney Ray Davis, of Benton Harbor transitioned quietly to his eternal home on April 6, 2025, at Corewell Health Lakeland St. Joseph Hospital, St. Joseph Michigan, with our sister Lori Ann Davis by his side, at the age of 62.

Ray was born  July 1, 1962, to the union of the late  Arildell Boatner and Archie Davis Sr., in Benton Harbor, Michigan. As they welcomed their 4th baby boy and named him Rodney Ray, we are not sure if the parents knew that Ray meant “ protection.”

At the time of Ray’s birth, there were already 3 older siblings ready along with his parents to provide nurturing, love, and grooming.  He would always let you know, that he was the baby boy.

Ray was a very sociable individual. He knew no strangers and was always extending love…not only with his family but with friends. On June 7, 2013, Rodney Ray accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years of his life. Ray was a true-to-heart Chicago Bulls fan, and he had the apparel to show for it. Micheal Jordan was his favorite all time pro player. Ray himself was a basketball player in the Benton Harbor Area Schools, and was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 1981.

Ray’s memories will always be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory in the hearts of his 3 eldest brothers: Archie Davis Jr, Keith Allen Davis Benton Harbor, MI; Glenn (Bettie) Davis, of Houston, TX; 6 sisters: Sandra Lynn Davis, Lori Ann Davis, Angelina Boatner of Benton Harbor, MI; Mavia Denise Davis of Kalamazoo, MI; Barbara (Shawn) Bolden, Angela Boatner of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of loving nieces, cousins, nephews and extended family, and friends.

Rodney Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Davis Sr, Arildell Boatner, sister Venus Renee and a brother, Joseph Boatner.

“So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.” John 16:22, NLT
