Whitmer stops in Benton Harbor

Governor Gretchen Whitmer was in Benton Harbor Monday.

State Representative Joey Andrews met up with her as she stopped at Forté Coffee. He says the two “had a great discussion on roads, the needs of local businesses, and the risks of rising costs from tariffs.”

This is seemingly part of a pattern for Whitmer, who has made several unannounced-to-the-public stops in St. Joseph and Benton Harbor over the years. On social media, Whitmer said she was also paying a visit to Head Start Monday.

On the agenda for Whitmer Monday was the announcement of $3 million being awarded around the state to help adults earn high school diplomas. However, none of that funding was awarded to any school districts in Southwest Michigan.
