Thomas Kenneth Bauer, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Stevensville, Michigan.
Thomas was born on October 18, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Walter Bauer and Esther (Boweman) Bauer.
Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol K. (Bennett) Bauer; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bauer, and siblings Walter Bauer, Danny Bauer, and Eva.
Left to cherish the memory of Thomas are his children, Linda Bauer, Steve (Diane) Bauer, Jeff Bauer, and Peggy (Bruce) Boyd; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and brother, Everett Bauer.
Right after high school, Thomas embarked on a life of service in the United States Navy, a period of his life he recalled with immense pride and honor.
Upon retirement from his committed tenure at Sunstrand in Dowagiac, MI, Thomas cultivated a life enriched by his passions. His love for golf shone brightly as he enjoyed many serene afternoons on the greens alongside his wife, Carol, with whom he shared a fondness for league tournaments. A spirited bowler, Thomas was also recognized for his green thumb—an artisan in vegetable gardening, he cultivated not just plants but joy in nature’s bounty.
Thomas’s nurturing spirit extended to his family; he reveled in time spent with his grandchildren and lent his hands and heart to help build his son Steve’s house—a structure that stands as a testament to his love and dedication. His memory will be cherished, and his absence deeply felt by all who were fortunate to know him.
Visitation for Thomas will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, MI 49120. Thomas will be laid to rest privately at Riverside Cemetery.
