Eden Springs Park Halloween train rides start this weekend

Eden Springs Park is hosting its annual Halloween miniature train rides. Starting this weekend, visitors can get an experience of Eden Springs at dark with Halloween nostalgia including a skeleton park, inflatables, and other Halloween props.

Engineer and volunteer Gordon Reay tells us a team of 8 to 10 volunteers help put this together each year to bring the spooky ride to life.

“It’s taken a few years to get established but now, like I say, it’s become quite a tradition for a lot of families. It’s nice that we can do something for the community. It provides a means of entertainment.”

Eden Springs Park, which was recently named a National Register of Historic Places, was a former amusement park and part of the House of David group back in the early 1900s. Reay says this event helps fundraise their organization, which is trying to restore the area as it once was.

“This is our main sort of fundraising for the whole year, the Halloween and Christmas rides, and that helps us to pay other work during the year. And the aim of the organization is basically to preserve, or rebuild what is practical of the original train park.”

The train rides will continue each weekend through October 27, with hours of operation between 5 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, kids under the age of 3 ride for free.
