The St. Joseph Township Board of Trustees has approved the township’s 2024 master plan.
At a meeting on Monday, trustees said the plan includes goals for the use of land and other resources in the coming years. Trustee Tom Milnikel told us the plan is similar to the one in 2017, with a few minor changes.
“We generally maintained the course of action that was in 2017,” Milnikel said. “We changed some areas and future land use to different categories or designations that are significant. We cleaned up some verbiage and what have you, as well as updated a lot of population data and so forth.”
Community goals outlines in the master plan include encouraging a variety of housing choices while preserving the township’s identity. In transportation, among the goals is to improve east/west mobility within the township. For economic development, the plan calls for providing additional access to goods and services at key locations, making them accessible to residents within a 20-minute walkable distance. The plan also calls for exploring free internet options in public spaces.
Trustees approved the plan Monday in a unanimous vote.
