Consider shifting 10% of your spending to local retailers.

A new “Buy Nearby” economic study by the Michigan Retailers Association and Public Sector Consultants finds 10%/ more local shopping could generate more than 15,000 new jobs and more than $690 million dollars in labor income. Group President Bill Hallan told us more.

It would generate new economic impact in Michigan of $1.5 billion,” Hallan said. “It would generate about 15,000 new jobs, and it would increase labor income in Michigan by almost $700 million.

Hallan says retail sales have been down in Michigan this year compared to last year. He does expect things to pick up with back to school sales.
