Now in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention is state Senator Aric Nesbitt. He’s been there all week and tells us the mood is “high energy.”

“There are a lot of folks here,” Nesbitt said. “The party is coming together, supporting President Trump and Senator Vance as the nominees. You saw last night, where some of Trump’s former competitors, Governor DeSantis and Ambassador Haley, both gave resounding endorsements of President Trump.”

Nesbitt says he’s seeing a unified party that’s setting an example for the country after this past weekend’s assassination attempt on former President Trump. He’s noted Trump’s family seems emotional after the incident, adding Trump has rewritten his convention speech to call for unity.

In addition to all the high-profile evening speeches, Nesbitt says there are plenty of discussions taking place during the day at the convention.

“You see all the convention on the floor, the evening programming, all the speakers, but in between, there are a lot of policy briefings that are happening on how to grow the economy, on how to be energy independent, lowering costs for working families, making a manufacturing renaissance.”

Nesbitt was excited to hear from Senator J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, Wednesday night.

Nesbitt wasn’t sure if he’d still be in Wisconsin for Trump’s big speech Thursday night, but notes Trump will be in Grand Rapids, with Vance, this weekend. He says that highlights how important Michigan is for the election.
