Now underway in Hartford is the Van Buren Youth Fair.
Fair board member Paul Garrod tells us this is the 69th year for the event, and more than 30,000 people are expected to stop by throughout the week. He says a new feature this year is that entry to the fair also comes with some additional entertainment, free of charge.
“We have a free grandstand with each paid admission, so that’s something new this year,” Garrod said. “We’re looking forward to having everybody come out and just pay one price at the gate to get in, and the grandstand is free this year.”
Set to be on the grandstand Wednesday is the Fair Fiesta Extravaganza featuring multiple musical performances with a Latin flavor. Thursday will bring a demolition derby, Friday will feature a rodeo and fireworks, and then Saturday will wrap things up with motor sports and a demo derby.
Garrod says there’s also plenty of entertainment to be found all over the fairgrounds.
“We have Skerbeck Entertainment Group providing the carnival midway, and they always put on a good show for us. a good show for us. We’ve got musical entertainment, free music underneath the community tent.”
That’s every night. Also, don’t forget the food, with just about every kind of fair food available.
Garrod invites everyone out to the Van Buren Youth Fair and reminds visitors to check out the animal displays from 4 H students who have worked hard all year to prepare.
