Set for July 31 in Benton Harbor is a summit on Ox Creek.
The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission’s Bekah Schrag tells us the “Changing the Narrative – Restoring and Revitalizing Ox Creek Summit” will be an all-day event to fill the public in on all of the things being done to restore Ox Creek.
“There will be presentations on what has already been happening, some of the grants that we’ve been getting, and then future steps for revitalizing and restoring the Ox Creek,” Schrag said. “There are going to be some breakout sessions for some of the different pillars of the plan. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and we’re just hoping that people come and want to be involved in the future of this creek.”
Funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the summit will serve as a platform for sharing updates on Ox Creek restoration projects and the draft implementation plan. Attendees will have the opportunity to help shape the future of Ox Creek through breakout sessions designed to get feedback and input on the plan.
The summit will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Michigan College on July 31, and it is open to anyone. However, attendees must register and the deadline to do so is July 17.
