President Joe Biden is as sharp as he’s ever been. That’s the feeling from U.S. Senator Gary Peters this week after joining the president at the White House for a bill signing.
President Biden signed Senator Peters’ bill reauthorizing several federal grant programs that help local fire departments address staffing, equipment, training, and medical needs. Peters described the president’s actions during the event.
“He was as sharp as ever and made, as I thought, some very good comments prior to the signing. He engaged in some substantive conversations, not only with me and some other members of Congress, but also with many of the firefighters who were there as well.”
Senator Peters is the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and admits the presidential race – and political races all across the country – are tight, but he’s confident Biden will defeat Trump.
“Yes, absolutely. I believe President Biden can win and I believe that we’ll be able to hold the Senate majority. And I think we also have a good shot of expanding it,” said Peters.
So far, no Michigan members of Congress have called for President Biden to exit his campaign for re-election.
