With the Lest We Forget D-Day reenactment taking place Saturday, June 22, the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety is advising everyone that Tiscornia Beach will be closed Friday.
The department says preparations for the reenactment are underway.
The reenactment will feature pyrotechnics, landing crafts, flyovers, and reenactors shooting blanks as they recreate the Allied invasion at Normandy. Nearby residents are told to expect loud noises during the event.
There will be beach landing and invasion around 9 a.m. and then again around noon as both the Normandy and then a Pacific Theater battle are staged.
Tiscornia Beach is expected to reopen around 4PM on Saturday.
Additionally, the city says construction is underway on Upton Drive and the railroad crossing is currently closed to traffic. Lest We Forget advises people attending its reenactment to park on the field south of Whitwam Drive and West of M-63. There will be shuttles to take people to and from the parking area.
