
A Kalamazoo man is facing charges after the Southwest Enforcement Team seized meth during a traffic stop in St. Joseph County this month.
The Southwest Enforcement Team along with Michigan State Police troopers seized 15 ounces of suspected crystal meth during the vehicle stop on June 6. The passenger in the vehicle, Marquevion Peake, was arrested and lodged in Saint Joseph County Jail for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
The driver, a 20-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was questioned and released, however the St. Joseph County Prosecutor is reviewing the case and additional charges could be made.
The vehicle was stopped after police observed multiple traffic violations. It was searched after an MSP K-9 unit alerted to possible drugs in the car.
Additionally, the SWET detectives executed a search warrant on June 13 at the Spartan Motel in Three Rivers, arresting a 24-year-old Three Rivers woman for possession of meth, receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. Detectives located and seized a quantity of meth and recovered a stolen 40 caliber pistol. The St. Joseph County Prosecutor is reviewing the case and additional charges may by authorized for other individuals involved in the investigation.
