The Friends of New Troy have started a crowdfunding campaign to revitalize the exterior of the New Troy Community Center.

The campaign, seeking to raise $50,000, will allow for several upgrades to make the place more vibrant. They include a new parking lot, entrances, a memorial garden, a walking path, and more.

President of FONT Victoria Petroff said this project is about more than just beautifying the building, but bringing the community together.

Let New Troy be what its moniker is, the center of the world where people can gather and have a safe and welcoming space to participate in activities, to learn, to take and just enjoy each other’s company,” Petroff said.

The FONT is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community life in Weesaw Township. The group aims to create an environment where all residents can engage and thrive.

Petroff says this project is a give back to the Weesaw Township community.

For us, it’s about taking in, making sure that the heartbeat of New Troy is still strong, making sure that investments are still being made into the well-being of the center of New Troy. And then let that radiate out to the people who are around.”

The crowdfunding campaign is online. The $50,000 initiative will be matched by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces grant, doubling the funds to $100,000.
