Phillip Maurice Freeze, born on November 2, 1943 in Manchester, Tennessee, was a man of deep compassion and abundant humor. He was generous in spirit, and his love for those around him knew no bounds. He was a man of substance, a man of character; in the words of Maya Angelou, Phillip was a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.
Phillip Freeze was a dedicated family man, a supportive and thoughtful individual who put his family above all else. He was a loving father to his children Phillip, Nancy, Susan, Veronica, and Dawn, and a cherished father-in-law to Kelley, Anthony, Timothy, and Bill. 5 Siblings, 5 precious grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marka, and his parents, Everett and Vernia Freeze. His legacy will continue to live on through his children and everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
Phillip made his home in Niles, Michigan, for 24 years, after moving from Buchanan. He was a respected supervisor in the manufacturing industry, spending his career at Gast Manufacturing & Clark Equipment. After retiring, Phillip enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as hunting and fishing. His hearty laughter and funny anecdotes brought joy to those around him, and his generosity in sharing his time and knowledge made him a treasure in his community. His life was a testament to the words of Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
