
Robert Bruce Coryell Sr, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in Niles, Michigan.
Bruce was born on August 14, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Carl Ashley Coryell and Catherine L. (Keutzer) Coryell.
Along with his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother Steven Coryell.
Left to cherish the memory of Bruce is his loving wife, Diane Lynn (Holycross) Coryell; children, Robert (Kristin) Coryell Jr, Robert Coryell (Alexandria) Zinko; Matthew Coryell; Adrian (Megan) Coryell, and Cara Coryell; grandchildren, Ashley Coryell, Dustin Coryell, Cody Coryell, Marlee Jurgenson, Emma Jurgenson, Chase Coryell, Owen Coryell, Aleah Ryman, and Cooper Reinhold, and sister, Patricia (George) Howard.
Bruce’s twenty years as a sergeant in the reserves with the Niles Police Department, combined with over a decade as a dedicated EMT, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his community.
An avid enthusiast of the great outdoors, Bruce cherished moments spent golfing, scuba diving, and fishing. His love for the sea was paralleled by his service in the United States Navy, and his fascination with aviation was well-known among those close to him. A true family man, Bruce took joy in coaching his children’s sports teams and celebrating life’s moments with his cherished grandchildren.
Bruce was an ardent fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars and was an avid reader having a keen interest in science fiction specifically. He was also a history buff, with an insatiable curiosity that enriched the lives around him. Bruce’s life was a testament to his diverse interests and the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Navy and had an admiration for planes and history, enhancing the stories he shared with those around him. Bruce was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Memorial contributions may be made out to the Navy Relief Fund.
Visitation for Bruce will be on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 6:00pm at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, MI 49120.
