The Berrien County Parks Department is giving everyone a chance to see what the new Silver Beach Playground will look like.

Berrien County Parks Director Jill Adams tells us renderings and concepts for the playground project will be on display at the St. Joseph Today Welcome Center starting Thursday and continuing through Monday.

What we are planning on showing over the next few days at the Welcome Center is all of those concepts, those ideas, the feedback we got from the public, all put into one design that we’re going to be moving forward with,” Adams said.

Adams says the parks department last fall held an event to get public input on multiple concepts for the playground, attracting about 80 people. The concepts on display at the Welcome Center now are what the county is going with.

There’s just hundreds of different things that kids will be able to do on these playgrounds, and if anyone’s interested, they can come out and take a look and learn a little bit more about what to expect when we bring it to the public in summer of 2025.”

Parks staff will be at the Welcome Center Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer any questions visitors might have. Adams says public comments will still be taken on the new $1.25 million playground. You can send them to parks@berriencounty.org.

The county is 74% of the way toward reaching its fundraising goal for the project and you can donate online.
