A St. Joseph man is dead following a tractor crash in Cass County on Saturday.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says deputies responded to the scene on Garrett Road north of Middle Crossing Road in Silver Creek Township shortly after 12 p.m. to find a tractor on its side.
Deputies learned a tractor pulling a farm implement lost control and jackknifed. The driver of the tractor, 23-year-old Nathan Scherer of St. Joseph, was ejected from the cab and the tractor then rolled on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
