Stellantis planning layoffs

Hundreds of workers at Stellantis will be out of work at the end of the month.

The automaker announced Friday it was cutting 400 technology and engineering jobs.

Butzel labor and employment attorney Brett Miller says we’ve unfortunately been hearing about these types of layoffs more frequently.

Whether this is a sign of what’s coming with the economy or the workforce in general, or simply sort of an adjustment to the market with a very quickly changing automotive industry, it may be too soon to tell,” Miller said.

Miller says workers who feel they’ve been wrongfully terminated or are asked to sign a lot of papers may want to consider getting an attorney.

Stellantis says the affected workers will receive a comprehensive separation package and transition assistance.
