The Berrien County Trial Court is transitioning to a new case management system, and this will mean some delays in services.
The court says effective April 1, any payments made to the Trial Court Finance Office will be receipted in but will not be applied to the appropriate case until after April 15. That includes online payments. No bonds will be refunded until after April 29 and no restitution checks will be issued until after April 29. This does not affect payments made for a Friend of the Court case.
Effective April 15, the criminal and juvenile divisions at the St. Joseph courthouse will be operating with reduced dockets with minimal hearings scheduled, and the reduced scheduling will continue through the week of May 6.
Criminal dockets in the Niles courthouse will continue as usual, but may experience some paperwork delays, and traffic cases will likely experience delays in processing.
Civil and probate schedules will continue as normal.
The Trial Court asks everyone for patience while it implements the new system.
