Lincoln Township Clerk Stacy Loar-Porter is running for Berrien County Clerk.
Loar-Porter has been the township clerk since 2008 and has the endorsement of Berrien County Clerk Sharon Tyler, who is stepping down at the end of her current term.
Loar-Porter tells us she believes she has the experience to take on a job vital to the county.
“There’s a lot of election laws, there’s a lot of records, there’s a ton of transparency that needs to happen with residents and I enjoy that part,” Loar-Porter said. “I enjoy getting to know the residents. I enjoy learning new laws and being part of an ever-changing environment, especially when it comes to elections. I like being involved in that. I like being a part of the change and also fighting for things that don’t need to change.”
Loar-Porter says she’s considered running for quite a while, but wouldn’t have run against Tyler. When Tyler told her she was stepping down, Loar-Porter knew it was time.
In addition to serving as Lincoln Township Clerk, she is the president of the Berrien County Clerk Association.
At this time, Loar-Porter is the only candidate running for Berrien County Clerk.
