Southwest Michigan has enjoyed some temperatures in the 70s this week, only for an expected drop into the 20s for Wednesday morning.
National Weather Service meteorologist Nathan Marsili told us Tuesday storms out in the northwest are partly to blame.
“Just a system moving in from the west and have the cold front associated with it, a very sharp cold front that will cause the sharp drop in temperatures,” Marsili said.
Marsili said a 50 degree temperature drop is pretty severe, but don’t worry.
“The good news is it’s not going to be a very long lived. The shot of cold air should modify to the mid 40s by Friday and probably into the 50s by Saturday, and then even warmer for the second half of the weekend.”
Marsili was expecting, at most, about an inch of snow in some areas close to Lake Michigan. A bigger concern, he said, is the possibility of hail and wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Make sure to keep all of your devices charged just in case of a power outage.
