
C. Johanna, “Joanne” Poziwilko, 93, of Sodus Township died Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Lincoln Township.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Mikki Collins officiating. Friends and relatives may begin calling at 10 AM on Saturday at the Church. Burial of the ashes will be held later in the springtime and cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, the Berrien County Dog Pound, or the Church. Joanne was born on March 20, 1931 in Benton Harbor to Arnold and Althea Beezley. She married her husband, Don Poziwilko, in August of 1950 and he preceded her in death in September of 2017. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Joanne was a homemaker and loved her kids and family. She liked doing Arts and Crafts, and enjoyed painting pictures. Joanne loved living on Pipestone creek and all the wildlife that came with it. She was also an avid bird watcher and animal lover.
Her family includes her children: Rodney (Deb) Poziwilko of Berrien Center, James (Polly) Poziwilko of Stevensville, Lorilie (Fred) Summerfelt of St. Joseph, Debra (Jeff) Burm of Stevensville and Gina (Craig) Steinke of Benton Harbor; her 11 grandchildren, her 9 great grandchildren and her 2 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her great grandson, Thomas, her 4 brothers and her 2 sisters.
