William Joseph Mathieu III, 60, of Mattawan, passed away suddenly Thursday, February 1, 2024.
He was born May 6, 1963, in Orange County, California, the son of William Mathieu Jr. and Carole (Dorey) Mathieu.
Bill worked for thirty years in the painter’s union. He loved to tinker and work on things. He enjoyed working on vehicles and fixed up his beloved truck, “Big Red”. You could also find Bill riding his motorcycle and 4 wheelers. He had a quick wit about him. Bill was a very brave man and endured many freak accidents, earning the nicknames “Moose” and “cockroach”. Loved helping his daughter and spending time with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife; Melissa (Quinones) Mathieu, daughter: Adrena (fiancée Matthew) Mathieu, three grandchildren; Aidin, Madison and Ellora Mathieu and brother in law, who was like his brother, Santiago Dain Alan Quinones, and sister in law, Belinda (Jim) Russell.
Family and friends were invited to visit Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A life celebration was held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Roberts officiating. Bill will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Bloomingdale at a later date.
