Michigan State Police hosts Benton Harbor hiring event

Michigan State Police recruiters will be in Benton Harbor next week looking for a few good trooper candidates.

On Wednesday, January 24, MSP will be at the Michigan Works! location at 499 West Main Street in Benton Harbor to find individuals interested in a career in law enforcement.

Earlier this month, MSP launched what they’re calling streamlined hiring events to attract potential troopers and motor carrier officers. The streamlining means the MSP is coming into communities to make it as easy as possible for interested candidates to fill out an application and learn more about potential career options.

Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP says there are factors that keep people from applying.

“We know there are several factors that could impact whether someone is able to take the necessary steps to apply and test for one of our recruit schools. We are removing barriers like access to a laptop or transportation and physically meeting candidates closer to their homes to make the process more accessible, efficient and effective.”

In Benton Harbor, the Michigan State Police is hosting the one-day hiring event at the Michigan Works! location. Recruiters will be on site to assist with the application process for Trooper and Motor Carrier Officer positions and the required civil service test will be administered. Applicants must be in attendance for the duration of the event. You can view the minimum requirements for employment on the MSP website at: mspjobs.michigan.gov.
